I've tasted the Levrier Anubis a couple of times and what strikes me is the impact the wine has. Intense but accessibile. It is a wine that is ready to be enjoyed from now. It has a long life ahead of it but I can never hold on to any bottles to find out.
Levrier Anubis offers lush currants and raspberries, as well as tobacco, cedar, and mocha. In the mouth, it is full, with nice interplay between the rich fruit and the firm Cabernet tannins. It is a wine that will hold this balance for many years, but is so pleasurable now.
Levrier means Greyhound in French. It is the winery of Jo Irvine, a second-generation winemaker and lover of Greyhounds (as you'll see from the labels). From her Barossa Valley base of operation, Jo makes a range of rich, dense and intense reds. Jo also makes some whites from the Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills.
