Halliday Wine Companion - 95 Points
Black raspberry, red cherry and pomegranate. Burdock root, crushed cumin and pulled paperbark stripped from the tree. Nutmeg and cinnamon. Fresh bay leaf, oregano and pepperberry. The silkiest of palates with ripe red fruit flowing down the centre, wrapped in cabernet berries that weave in and out. A mocha coffee and carob sweetness with a touch of anise and tobacco pouch. Such a grateful palate – it's a dream of a vintage, this one. Shanteh Wale

About the Winery / Region
Majella Wines was established in 1975 by Brian and Marie Lynn and has grown into one of Coonawarra’s most respected and reliable family-owned wineries. From the outset, Majella focused on crafting wines that reflect the purity, balance and longevity for which the region is renowned, a philosophy that continues today.
The vineyards are planted on Coonawarra’s famed terra rossa soils over limestone, a unique geological formation that provides excellent drainage and natural vine balance. These soils are particularly well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, producing wines with lifted aromatics, fine tannins and exceptional ageing capability.
Majella has earned a reputation for consistency across vintages, a hallmark of careful vineyard management and restrained winemaking. Rather than chasing power, the estate prioritises harmony, varietal clarity and site expression. This approach has seen Majella recognised as a long standing Halliday 5-Star winery, with its Cabernet Sauvignon forming the backbone of the portfolio and a reference point for the region.
The 2021 vintage, shaped by favourable growing conditions in Coonawarra, highlights the estate’s strengths, purity of fruit, structural definition and polished balance, reinforcing Majella’s status as a producer of enduring quality and regional authenticity.
