Single vineyard Geelong Chardonnay - white peach, flint, oyster shell minerality and serious length.
Mulline Sutherlands Creek Chardonnay 2024 is a bold-but-precise single vineyard Chardonnay from the Moorabool Valley (Geelong), built on ripe stone fruit, smoky flint detail and a distinctly saline, mineral line. Wild fermented with full solids and shaped by thoughtful oak, it’s a confident modern Australian Chardonnay with real structure and cellar potential.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Pure white peach, pressed flowers and gentle vanillin, with flecks of flint and oyster shell lift.
Palate: White nectarine and grilled citrus layered over crushed rocks, struck match nuance and a creamy, mineral core; textured and beautifully balanced.
Finish: Pithy and persistent citrus rind, nutty oak and chalky structure with excellent drive.
Food Pairing / Serving Suggestions
Smashes with roast chicken, grilled fish, butter poached prawns, creamy mushroom pasta, corn & haloumi, or soft rind cheeses.
About the Winery / Producer / Region
Mulline Vintners (Ben Mullen & Ben Hine) is Geelong-focused, making site driven wines that lean into detail, freshness and regional expression. This bottling comes from the Strathmore Vineyard on Muhlebach Road, Sutherlands Creek, planted in 1998, with grey/brown loams over fragmented granite, a key reason the wine shows that flinty, saline edge.
Cellaring Potential
Already humming, but the structure suggests it will gain extra nutty/complex layers over 5 to 7 years, drink now to 2031.
