Narkoojee Pinot Noir 2024 750ml

$35.99
Elegant Gippsland Pinot Noir with cherry, raspberry, black tea and a long silky finish. About The Wine Narkoojee Pinot Noir 2024 is a beautifully poised Gippsland Pinot Noir with brightness, perfume and fine detail. The 2024 vintage shows a lovely cool climate expression, bringing together red and dark fruit, floral lift and gentle savoury complexity in a polished, highly drinkable style. It has enough texture and structure to feel serious, while still remaining graceful and immediately appealing.  Tasting Notes Aroma: Black cherry, raspberry, dried flowers, black tea and a touch of violets. Palate: Layered and finely textured, with black plum, cranberry, pomegranate and rhubarb supported by lively acidity and soft tannins. Finish: Long, elegant and silky, with fine French oak spice carrying through the close. Serving Suggestions A lovely match for roast duck, grilled chicken, mushroom dishes, pork loin or soft earthy cheeses. About the Winery / Producer / Region Narkoojee is one of Gippsland’s established family wineries, located in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range.Narkoojee, meaning 'place of flowers', was a dairy farm owned and operated by Edna and Athelstan Friend since the early 1940s. Their son Harry planted the first experimental vines back in 1980 and, with his wife, Val, moved to the property from Melbourne in 1995. Narkoojee had very humble beginnings, with the cellar door operating out of a small weatherboard bungalow at the back of Harry and Val Friend’s house. The grapes were taken to the old butter factory in Glengarry, which served as their first winery. The first trial vines (1/4 acre) were planted on the property in 1980, and since then, several varieties have been planted on 25 acres. Chardonnay, pinot noir, cabernet, shiraz, merlot and viognier all grow well in this location. Today, Narkoojee has a state of the art winery that was officially opened on 10 December 2004 by the Hon. John Brumby MP, then Treasurer of Victoria and Minister for State and Regional Development. Today, the winery enjoys a 5 star status as rated by James Halliday. Cellaring Potential Drinking beautifully now for its fragrance and fruit purity, with enough balance and structure to reward short to medium-term cellaring under good conditions.
