About the Distillery / Region
Founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky, Nikka operates two major distilleries: Miyagikyo and Yoichi. The Coffey Grain expression is produced at Miyagikyo Distillery, where the rare Coffey stills imported from Scotland in the 1960s create spirits with exceptional texture and character. This whisky showcases the softer, fruit-driven side of Japanese craftsmanship.
Cellaring Potential
While designed for immediate enjoyment, it keeps well for years once unopened, maintaining its smoothness and layered aromatics.
Collector’s Note
A global favourite and a staple for Japanese whisky collectors. Regularly awarded 90+ point scores from international critics and often considered one of the best-value premium Japanese whiskies available.
