Bruichladdich’s Octomore 13.1 is a fiercely peated Islay release, bottled at cask strength. It presents a colossal peat core balanced by bright citrus, vanilla sweetness, and a maritime edge. The whisky is bold and persistent, rewarding deliberate nosing and slow tasting. Best enjoyed neat to fully reveal its layers, or with a touch of water to open the palate. Tasting notes: - Nose: intense peat smoke, iodine, sea spray, lemon zest, vanilla bean, light oak spice. - Palate: massive peat followed by brine, charred oak, citrus rind, vanilla cream, and subtle cocoa; peppery balance. - Finish: long and warming, with lingering smoke, saline tang, and drying spice.
