The blend includes material from the 'Grandfather Solera' stage six and individual batches of exceptional Grandfather ports. These components undergo additional aging before being introduced into the 'Great Grandfather Solera' blend. Originally, only 1994 bottles were released to honour the inaugural year, but now it is only offered in limited quantities to maintain its age and high quality.
