Textural Mornington Peninsula Pinot Gris with pear, quince, honeyed spice and a long mineral finish.
About The Wine
Quealy Tussie Mussie Pinot Gris 2025 is a richly textured Mornington Peninsula white that balances generosity with precision. Sourced from the Tussie Mussie vineyard in Merricks North, it brings together ripe orchard fruit, gentle honeyed spice and a creamy, savoury feel, all held in shape by bright natural acidity and a lingering mineral line. It is a fuller, more layered Pinot Gris style that still finishes dry and poised.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Pear skin, quince, jasmine, honeysuckle, almond and soft spice.
Palate: Finely weighted yet textural, with ripe orchard fruit, poached apple, pear, lemon honey and creamy phenolic detail through the middle palate.
Finish: Long, dry and mineral, with freshness, savoury texture and lingering spice.
Serving Suggestions
A great match for roast chicken, pork cutlets, mushroom pasta, grilled prawns or washed-rind cheeses.
About the Winery / Producer / Region
Quealy is one of the Mornington Peninsula’s pioneering names, founded by Kathleen Quealy and Kevin McCarthy, who helped establish Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio as benchmark styles for the region. The Tussie Mussie vineyard is a newer single vineyard site in Merricks North, planted on deep red volcanic soils with a north facing aspect that supports slow ripening and strong flavour development. Tom McCarthy stepped up as head winemaker in 2019, continuing the family’s focus on site driven Mornington Peninsula wines.
Cellaring Potential
Drinking beautifully now for its texture and youthful energy, and should continue to develop nicely over the short term, gaining extra savoury complexity over the next few years. This is an inference based on the wine’s structure, acidity and winemaking.
