Elegant Macedon Pinot Noir with cherry, spice, silky tannins and cool climate lift.
About The Wine
Shadowfax Macedon Pinot Noir 2023 is a beautifully poised Victorian Pinot Noir from the cool Macedon Ranges, offering bright red fruit, fine tannins and graceful savoury complexity. This is a refined, aromatic style of Pinot with freshness, depth and that unmistakable cool climate elegance.
Expect cherry, raspberry, spice and subtle earthy notes, balanced by silky texture and a long, polished finish. A lovely choice for those who enjoy Pinot Noir with finesse rather than weight.
Halliday Wine Companion - 91 Points
Cool aromatics, all peppery with wintergreen, and a little meaty reduction, too. The palate matches with cranberry juice and red and sour cherries; it's more about pronounced acidity than tannins, so it’s somewhat tight and lean, yet it has a certain appeal and freshness. Unlikely this will flesh out with time so best to serve with rich food. Jane Faulkner.

About the Winery / Producer / Region
Shadowfax is one of Victoria’s respected boutique wineries, established in 2000 and based at Werribee Park, around 30 kilometres from Melbourne. The producer focuses on handcrafted wines that express the character of the vineyard sites they come from, with fruit sourced from Werribee, the Macedon Ranges and selected Victorian growers.
The Macedon Ranges is one of mainland Australia’s coolest wine regions, making it especially well suited to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. High elevation, cool nights and long ripening conditions help produce Pinot Noir with aromatic lift, fine structure, red fruit purity and elegant savoury detail. Shadowfax also has close planted vineyard holdings in Little Hampton in the Macedon Ranges, adding depth to its regional credentials.
Cellaring Potential
This 2023 Macedon Pinot Noir can be enjoyed now for its fresh red fruit and silky texture, or cellared for around 3 to 6 years to develop more savoury, earthy and spice driven complexity.
