Tahbilk 1860 Vines Shiraz comes from some of the oldest Shiraz vines in the world (planted 1860) at Tahbilk in Victoria’s Nagambie Lakes. It’s a concentrated, full-bodied Shiraz with spice, dark fruit, and a firm tannin backbone. Elegant now but built for the cellar, it pairs well with gravies and roasted meats, and rewards patience with complexity.
Tasting notes:
Appearance: Deep ruby with purple edges.
Nose: Blackcurrant/blackberry and plum, with licorice, dark chocolate, and pepper; subtle vanilla and graphite from oak.
Palate: Rich, dense fruit; chewy yet refined tannins; balanced acidity; notes of dark fruit, spice, cocoa, and a touches of oak.
Finish: Long and savory, with peppery spice and a lingering mineral/earthy note. Aging potential: develops with time in bottle.
