The Epicurean Odyssey Series 46.2% Wooden Gift Box  At 39 years old, this whisky is approaching four decades in the making and only 1,695 bottles have been released of this extra-long double maturation whisky. Emerging from the oak after a 39-year quest to epitomise the intensity and lavishness of exquisite European wines through whisky flavour, is a Single Malt Scotch unlike any that has come before it. Rich and succulent blackberries burst onto the palate, while a sumptuous whisper of crumbled muscovado sugar leaves the taste buds tantalised.  Tasting Notes Appearance: Rich deep amber. Nose: The nose-feel is mellow, and the aroma is profoundly complex. Mild at first and vinous, with fruity top notes suggesting a rich fruit cake with wine-soaked raisins, candied orange peel and toasted almonds. Later, some butterscotch emerges, with a slightly burnt edge to the cake. Water dials back the fruit and introduces a cooling effect. Body:  Light Palate: At natural strength delicate in texture; light on its feet, lively for its great age and drying overall. Sweet in taste, beginning fruity and quickly becoming spicy. A Christmas pudding in a glass. Clove-studded oranges. Beneath, a bittersweet hint of burnt raisins. Finish: Long, pleasantly warming and elegantly drying, with a light yet spicy sweetness, leaving a warm glow. A drop of water elevates the fruit and sharpens the finale.
