Crafted by Tony and Lita Brady, the Wendouree reflects its origins since the first vines were planted by Alfred Percy Birks in 1893. Considered one of Australia's best Shirazes, this wine is made from low-yielding, old vines and is managed with low-input viticulture. The laissez-faire winemaking process allows the wine to truly express its terroir. Renowned for its exceptional quality and rich heritage, the celebrated Wendouree Shiraz stands out as a gem. The low-yielding old shiraz vines produce small berries with thick skins and a high seed content, resulting in a wine with exceptional depth and complexity. There are only a few older bottles of Wendouree wines in circulation.
The 2015 Wendouree Cabernet Malbec is a medium-bodied wine with a thick and tannic texture that is balanced by its supple and delicious character. It boasts a rose oil mouth-perfume and a fair bit of Cabernet lash and strictness through the finish, which contributes to its complexity and intensity. The Wendouree Cabernet Malbec 2015 is a wonderful wine that tames the palate with its well-balanced flavours and impressive structure.
“Medium bodied, thick and tannic, but kind of supple and delicious too, with a rose oil mouth-perfume, and then, a fair bit of Cabernet lash and strictness through the finish. And just when you thought you’d escaped unscathed, whoosh, whoop, crack – you’ve been tamed. Wonderful Wendouree” 95 points Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
