The Mizunara Japanese Oak, known for its challenging nature, was originally experimented with by the House of Suntory blending team under the guidance of the First-Generation Master Blender, Shinjiro Torii, and Second-Generation Master Blender, Keizo Saji in the 1940s. The initial taste test revealed a strong flavour and scent in the Mizunara oak cask. After being aged in the unique climate of Japan's four seasons and nurtured in Yamazaki, skilled blenders found a harmonious balance of maturation that tames the intense Mizunara character.
